1Self winding is betterApr 21, 2009
This box is quiet like everyone states it does work but not enought to keep the watch wond up. Will be selling this in the next garage sale.

5Nice and solid look - Does the job!Mar 18, 2008
I have owned this single watch winder since Christmas 2007 (3 months) and it has performed flawlessly. It is the rich wood version which is very nicely finished and has a solid feel. I run it using the AC adapter.

Last fall I was given a nice auto wind Swiss watch. The problem is that I don't wear it every day and would have to reset it every time I wore it. A jeweler explained that getting a winder would be a good investment since constantly setting the time and unscrewing the setscrew would cause the seal to wear out prematurely.

I leave the winder in the 33 second rotate every 25 minutes or so in opposite direction each time. So far it has worked very well and has kept my watch wound ready to go every time I want to wear it.
I have it in my study because of the reviews that said it was "loud". My hearing is pretty good and I am sensitive to noise in a quiet environment but I have to say that the winder is extremely quiet and unobtrusive. It could easily stay in the bedroom at night.

In summary: A nice well priced item that does what it is supposed to and looks nice on top of that.

1NoiseyFeb 11, 2008
Bought as a gift but had to return because the watch winder was to be used in the bedroom for convenience and the electric motor was much too noisey. Not having experience with a watch winder before, I had no idea if the noise was normal or a defect and the merchant had no desire to give me, the customer, any benefit of a doubt.

Nice price, though, except the cost of shipping to receive and return was around $20 after "winding up" with nothing.

4Does the trickJan 04, 2008
Purchased this winder because of the decent price point and the finish on it. While I cannot speak to the longevity of the unit, as I've only been using it for a few weeks, I can say that overall I am pleased.

The finish is nice, a light cherry - not very dark - although I could do without the metal plate on the top that says "Tech Swiss" on it. The inside of the box is very nice. The winder keeps my Rolex wound perfectly, and it is almost silent - you cannot hear it running. I keep it on the nightstand next to my bed, and have never heard it doing its thing. It has a couple different settings for different kinds of watches (some wind one way, some wind another, and different timings are available). While it doesn't allow you to set every variable, I believe it would do the trick for almost all popular watch lines.

One thing to note - it is a big unit - check the dimensions before deciding. Honestly is seems a bit over the top in terms of size for holding only one watch. It is so big that when you open the top it sometimes almost falls over backwards because the lid is so heavy.

It's a solid, good looking box that does the job at a good price given the competition out there. If you don't mind the size, then it's a good investment to keep you from having to reset your watch after you've had it off for a couple of days.
