I rarely leave reviews for products, but I'd really like to share my thoughts on this particular item because most of the watch cases on Amazon lack detailed reviews with relevant information. I looked through several different watch boxes before making a selection, not wanting to get something cheap to protect my nice dress watches. Honestly, I picked this item because it said it weighed 2 kg, so I figured it couldn't be poor quality wood and still be that hefty.
Short review: This watch case is absolutely brilliant.
1. The clear glass top is superior to others in this price range, which offer cheap plastic viewing windows. The glass allows lots of light in to charge my solar powered watches, and it also allows them to receive signals from the atomic clock for daily syncing. This is a huge plus.
2. The top of the box itself is, as advertised, "extra clearance". I fit several large watches in this container and they are at least 2 cm below the glass. This is excellent design.
3. The hinges are very good. They hold the box open while putting in watches, and they seem very sturdy.
4. The latch is plain, but it does the job.
5. The interior seems apropos of a watch case that costs at least $100 more than this one. The pillows fit a variety of watch band sizes, and the interior looks very classy. The compartments can fit watches up to 51 mm as long as you flank the very large watch with smaller ones, or you can place 45 mm watches beside one another.
6. The wood is the best part of this case. I cannot know for sure, but the wood looks and feels like real Mahogany. My grandfather is a woodworker, so I suppose I could have him verify it for me if I really wanted, but this piece feels like a solid block of hardwood. Mahogany is treasured in fine furniture, and this piece belongs with any fine watch collection.

I purchased this for my boyfriend for his birthday. It looks exactly like the picture. The wood, cushions and glass are beautiful. The only thing I was dissappoitned about was that there was no key.

I bought this for my husband for his birthday as he is a watch collector, he has been wanting a watch box for a while now and after looking around for what felt like forever we chose this one. I must say the picture does not do it justice. The craftsmanship is really well done, this box is simply stunning. I am thoroughly impressed and happy with this purchase. It fits watches from very large to normal sized and the glass top is a nice addition to others of a similar price that either don't have a clear top or the tops are made of plastic. Finally the removable try is a nice touch.
